|

Here is a little more background on some themes:

General Historical Interest
Our
collection covers UK social life in its broadest sense, from the 1940's
and earlier. It includes the family, life in the home and at work, domestic
appliances, leisure time, shops and shopping, the health system,
the car, etc..
Industrial and Commercial
The
footage covers all types of industrial locations and manufacturing processes,
during World War 2 and subsequently, as well as fascinating footage which
shows the development of office technology (telephone, telex, fax, etc.)
and the changes in daily office life and practice over the last sixty
years.
Agriculture/Farming
Farming
and life in the British countryside since the 1940's.
Foreign Countries
We
have an extensive collection of footage and programmes covering
many different aspects of life in the Middle East, India, Pakistan and
Bangladesh. This footage particularly reflects the impressive development
of the Gulf States over the last fifty years.
We also
have a lot of footage relating to Royal visits to countries in the Middle
East.
Public Information
Our
collection of cinema and television commercials from the 1940's and earlier
and up to the 1970's, gives a very interesting and often amusing insight
into life and social attitudes at the time of their production.
General
Other
footage that does not fit neatly into any one category, provides a treasure
trove of moving images
